No Brands, Good yoyos.

UNBRANDED by choice.

There’s something mysteriously captivating about yo-yos. You wind the string, place it in your palm, loop it on your finger, and throw. Despite its simple structure, the combination of spin, balance, and how the string is controlled can produce an incredible range of tricks. Today, yo-yos are no longer just "toys"—they’ve evolved into a sport, an art form, and a cultural movement embraced by people around the world.

At the same time, a closer look at the current yo-yo market reveals an astounding diversity in variation and branding. From signature models by top players, to limited-edition colors, high-end designs using premium materials, and even budget-friendly beginner models—the selection is vast. This variety is a clear sign of how the yo-yo scene has expanded, and that’s something to truly celebrate.

However, with all these choices, some beginners—or those returning to yo-yos after a long break—might find themselves overwhelmed. “Which one should I choose?” “I don’t really understand the differences between them.” These feelings of confusion are increasingly common.

Let’s consider the famous "Jam Experiment" for a moment.

The study showed that when too many flavors of jam were displayed, people were less likely to make a purchase and less satisfied with their choices afterward. Too many options can lead to decision paralysis and post-choice doubt.

A similar phenomenon might be occurring in the yo-yo world. Sure, if you’re well-versed in yo-yos, you can make informed decisions. But imagine it’s jam instead. If you don’t know much about jam, would you feel confident picking the one that’s right for you?

That’s why we bring up the jam metaphor—not to criticize, but to offer a clearer perspective from outside the yo-yo industry. Producers may have a deep passion for what makes each yo-yo special, but unless they speak from the consumer’s point of view, their message often doesn’t get through.

Has the yo-yo industry failed to communicate those nuances and values effectively?

What does this brand of yo-yo actually offer me?
What are the differences in design and shape? I can’t really tell...

If too many people start drifting away from yo-yos because of those lingering doubts, it would be a real loss. If we want to preserve yo-yos as a long-lasting cultural tradition, we must recognize that confusion and hesitation can be major barriers. That’s the very reason we created #UNBRANDED—with the belief that if we provide a simple and approachable entry point, more people can stay engaged with yo-yos and discover their own style.

Who Is It For?

We envision our products for beginners and intermediate players like:

  • Someone who just started yo-yoing a few months ago and bought one or two bind yo-yos recommended by a store.
  • They’ve finally gotten the hang of binding and want to move on to more advanced tricks, but aren’t quite sure what kind of yo-yo fits them best.
  • They’re overwhelmed by all the brands and models, and don’t fully understand the differences.

#UNBRANDED is here to create that “simple entry point.” Our mission is to help people discover the yo-yo they truly like by clearly designing and explaining the differences between models. We intentionally avoid excessive decoration and flashy packaging, instead focusing on clarity, quality, price, and ease of use. By staying grounded and not getting swept away by fleeting trends or branding hype, we aim to create a timeless product—one that continues to be loved for years to come.

Of course, we deeply respect the traditional approach where seasoned players say, “This is the one” or “It has to be this.” But we believe that offering a different kind of choice—one that feels right even from a fresh perspective—can be exciting and enriching for advanced players too. That’s why we chose to be a “brand that isn’t a brand.”

Connection Through Yo-Yos by #

But #UNBRANDED is about more than just yo-yos themselves. We see tremendous value in the community and culture built around this shared interest. Yo-yos are tools that bring people together—across generations, skill levels, and backgrounds.
The "#" in our name symbolizes connection, just like a social media hashtag. It ties people together, sparking interaction and discovery for both newcomers and lifelong fans. Through this network of play and passion, we believe more people will come to understand the magic of yo-yos.

With the strength of this community, we hope to share the joy of yo-yos with even more people—and imagine a future where that joy is passed down to the next generation.
